Artist: Daniel Beirne

Circling the Confluence, branches, variable dimensions, 2011

Biography:
Daniel is a Canadian visual artist. Daniel lives with his family in rural Ontario, and with his wife Andrea Bird. He has an encaustic school and gallery in the historic Alton Mill. He also operates Waxworks Encaustic Supplies.

Artist Statement:
Daniel’s sculptural artwork is an exploration of natural processes using found materials, on-site and in gallery settings. His installation work is a collaboration with nature: a dialogue between events and the materials.

Background Statement:
The artists’ work incorporates found objects and “tornado branches” transforming the gallery into a map of geography and insight.

The reason I chose this piece is because Daniel uses unique ways to make his artwork with branches. This connects to the theme because he uses natural material to make it look like nature is coming from the floor to the ceiling.
